On Sunday, Feb. 11 Kristie Sherrodd will unravel the mysteries of yarn count systems, yarn weight systems, yarn gauge systems – what the numbers mean and what information what weavers need to understand and what they can ignore.
Handouts and a short talk will clear up mysteries such as: Why is 8/2 cotton from Lunatic Fringe an 2/8 cotton from Maurice Brassard the same size? Why do 8/2 cotton and 22/2 cottolin look to be the same size? What’s the relationship between “fingering weight” and 5/2? Is 5/2 and size 5 perle cotton the same thing?
