Three Willow Women and Their Work

Northwest Basket Weavers, a Seattle based basketry guild, announces a unique
opportunity to learn about willow basketry this June in Entiat, Washington. Three
distinguished willow instructors, each specializing in her own aspect of willow weaving,
will be gathering for a weekend filled with presentations and hands-on workshops. Our
instructors are Jo Campbell-Amsler of Monticello, Iowa, Katherine Lewis of Mount
Vernon, Washington and Judy Zugish of Marysville, Washington. It all happens June 1 –
3 at the Entiat Grange located at 14108 Kinsel Street, Entiat, Washington.

“For the new weaver or skilled basket maker, willow is a multifaceted wonder
that you can grow or collect, combine and refine. It can be traditional or contemporary,
become bold and large, or quiet and tiny. With an assortment of offerings, you can
choose your project and surround yourself for days in the possibilities. A most satisfying
addition – – along with your class basket, you will also take home skills to apply to many
natural gatherings.” – Judy Zugish

The weekend will begin with a public presentation, Three Willow Women and Their
Work, Friday, June 1, 7-8:30pm. Our three instructors will illustrate and discuss their
individual methods of working with willow. WILLOW WEEKEND 2012
There will be opportunities to ask questions and learn all you want to know about this endless subject. On Saturday and Sunday, June 2 – 3, from 8:30am – 5:00pm, weave your own basket during one of our workshops.
